According to Twitter reports by Jane Manchun Wong, who has repeatedly reported about tests in the application, Instagram is currently working on a new feature. Thanks to it, users could send private messages also from a web browser.
Messages undoubtedly fuel engagement in mobile applications. As weRSM reminds, Facebook is one of the first platforms that introduced the message function and then created a separate application for this. Messenger is currently one of the most-used messengers.
New in browser
Until now, communication through private messages on Instagram was only possible through a mobile application. As part of the planned changes, the iconic message icon with an arrow was to be visible in the upper right corner of the web browser. It would be possible to use it on both mobile and desktop.
Instagram on a computer
Currently, the functions available in the browser version of Instagram are limited. Notifications were introduced some time ago, but it is still impossible to add photos from a computer and view Stories. The Verge has learned from an Instagram representative that this feature is currently not publicly tested, but its introduction could be the next step in the development of Instagram not only on a mobile.
The purpose of the change
Considering the introduction of the possibility of sending DMs also in the browser may indicate that sending private messages on Instagram is of increasing importance for both users and its creators or get help from buysocialfollowers.
